Murashige, Laura

From: One Wahine [onewahine@hawaii.rr.comj
Sent: Monday, June 19, 2006 8:10 AM
To: counciltestimony@co.hawaii.hi.us

Subject: Re: Bill No 301

I, Jill Jermann, do not support Bill No. 301, particularly Section 4-19, Registration fees for Cats, Section
4-20. Issuance of Registration and tag for cats. Section 4-21 Proof of sterilization and micro-chip
implanting. By using any form of collars, these animals would not be able to hunt down rats
successfully. Also any form of collars with or without tags will jeopardize the safety of cats in their
natural environment. They will get hooked up on just about everything. If the pig hunters on record
stated they take their dog collars off because of the terrain, then it doesn't make sense to put cats in
harms way since they are lower to the ground then the average dog, and would get hung up much to easy
in the lava rock, fern, and general overgrowth. Also, it was necessary to own a cat to get after the rat
overpopulation. I thought common sense, and people that truly care about keeping animals safe and out
of harms way, would see that cat collars are brutal for the type of terrain this island is made up
of Limiting people to only 4 pets per household is ridiculous, this is still a free country.

G7

F-~

.I;
F-,
,J

Comm.
