No. 891 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 9:00 a..m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 891, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 891 from Mayor Harry Kim, dated May 1, 2006 nominates Mr.. Alvin Rho of <br /> Council District 8 to serve on the County of Hawaii Planning Commission. <br /> Mr. Rho is a 61-year resident of Hawaii and is currently a senior associate at America's Choice and from <br /> 1974 to 2004 Mr. Rho was a school administrator with the State Department of Education. He states he is <br /> not affiliated with any political party and, if confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, <br /> 2010. <br /> Pursuant to Section 13-4, Hawaii County Charter, the Planning Commission shall consist of members <br /> appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council. <br /> At the June 6, 2006 Planning Committee meeting, Chair Pilago noted although the deadline date for <br /> approval of the appointment will pass prior to the next council meeting, this committee will move the <br /> matter to council. <br /> Council Member Holschuh asked Planning Director Yuen to confirm whether Mr. Rho is the same person <br /> who was the District Superintendent of Schools.
