Arakaki and Members of the County Council: <br /> Z am Fred Galdones, Big Island Division Director for the ILWU, which <br /> represents more than 6,000 active and inactive members who are also <br /> members of the community at-large. <br /> The ILWU submits the following Comments to Draft 2 of the proposed <br /> ordinance to amend the Hawaii county Code relating to an affordable <br /> housing policy for the County of Hawaii: <br /> a) 6ection 11-dfal Requirements ~~,Rszon ngs Involving Resi- <br /> dential Uses. <br /> The ILwU is agreeable with the condition that a housing- <br /> needs assessment study be made every ten (10) years to <br /> establish the proper formula for affordable housing; <br /> however, it shall not be less than 10~ for 10 or more <br /> unite. <br /> b) ~~Lon 11-8 Effect on Existinu Rec[uirenents. <br /> 2'he ILWU objects allowing any application that was approved <br /> under the present affordable housing formula and conditions <br /> to be allowed to have their formula and conditions be <br /> reassessed for possible adjustments. <br /> Among other projects, the ILWU y also concerned with the <br /> CBrewer puueo housing project.
