Angel Pilago, Chair <br /> RE: Testimony in Support of County Resolution No. 383-06 <br /> <br /> Aloha Chair Pilago and members of the Committee on Planning, <br /> <br /> I am in support of County Resolution No. 383-06 directing the Planning Director to <br /> conduct a feasibility study of amending the General Plan to include resort on this <br /> parcel of land. The area surrounding Honokohau Harbor was in urban and resort <br /> prior to February 2005 and this General Plan amendment will restore what was taken <br /> away. <br /> The resort component provides the necessary income to furnish needed public <br /> benefits including the new marina and a new road connecting Kuakini Highway and <br /> Kealakehe Parkway through QLT lands. <br /> Accommodations made available to visitors who will be utilizing the marina's many <br /> new services, which include sport fishing events which is a billion dollar industry <br /> world-wide, is mandatory for the development of the lands at Honokohau harbor. <br /> With a resort hotel, the expanded harbor would be able to sustain itself as well as <br /> provide the community a location to house visiting anglers, boat owners and their <br /> families to participate in world recognized events. <br /> I ask you to pass this resolution moving to study the feasibility and designate the <br /> lands within the Kona Kai Ola project as Urban Resort and Open area once again. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> gtmi V_,O~,t ' <br /> rllio n <br /> Tournament Director <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Comm.
