Angel Pilago, Chair <br /> <br /> Subject: County Resolution No. 383-06 <br /> <br /> Aloha Chair Pilago and members of the Committee on Planning, <br /> <br /> I am writing to you in support of County Resolution No. 383-06. <br /> I have attended the Kona Community Development Plan meetings over the past <br /> few months and it has been evident that the community is in favor of directing its <br /> future growth in the North Kona area from Kailua to Keahole. <br /> <br /> The area surrounding Honokohau Harbor was in urban and resort prior to February <br /> 2005 and this General Plan amendment will restore what was taken away. <br /> This resolution allows our planning director to study the feasibility of amending the <br /> General Plan to allow for that growth with a resort component. This proactive <br /> stance will allow our community to plan and our town to grow. <br /> <br /> Like many in Kona I am excited about Jacoby Developments plans to expand the <br /> marina and to extend Kuakini Highway through Queen Lliiuokalani Trust Lands to <br /> Kealakehe Parkway. The Kona community has been asking for an expanded marina <br /> for years and this new road will provide one piece of the puzzle to solve our traffic <br /> problems. <br /> I encourage you to pass this resolution directing the Planning Director to conduct a <br /> feasibility study of amending the General Plan to include resort on this parcel of <br /> land. <br /> Mahalo for your consideration and kokua. <br /> <br /> Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br /> . t~ <br /> Gr C.
