<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> § 2-15.1 HAWAII COUNTY CODE <br /> <br /> Section 2-15.1. Powers, duties and functions. <br /> The fire commission shall: <br /> (1) Adopt rules necessary for the conduct of its business and review rules for the administration of the <br /> department; <br /> (2) Review the annual budget prepared by the fire chief and make recommendations thereon to the <br /> mayor, the managing director and the council; <br /> (3) Review the department's operations as deemed necessary, for the purposes of recommending <br /> improvements to the fire chief, <br /> (4) Evaluate at least annually the performance of the fire chief and submit a report to the mayor, the <br /> managing director and the council; <br /> (5) Review personnel actions within the department for conformance with the policies under section <br /> 7-4.6,* Hawai`i County Charter; <br /> (6) Hear complaints of citizens concerning the department or its personnel and, if necessary, make <br /> recommendations to the fire chief on appropriate corrective actions; and <br /> (7) Submit an annual report to the mayor, managing director and the council on its activities. <br /> Except for purposes of inquiry or as otherwise provided in the Hawaii County Charter, neither the <br /> commission nor its members shall interfere in any way with the administrative affairs of the department. <br /> (2001, Ord. Volunteer fire department created. <br /> There is created and established for and within the County a department to be known as the Hawaii <br /> volunteer fire department to train volunteers in the prevention of fires and to aid in the control of fires. The <br /> department shall have its principal office in the Hilo fire station. <br /> (1975 C.C., c. 2, art. 3, sec. 5.01.) <br /> Section 2-16.1. Volunteer fire stations. <br /> In accordance with provisions of section 46-13.1, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the following volunteer fire <br /> stations are established in the County of Hawaii to be sited and operated by the head of the volunteer fire <br /> department pursuant to powers granted under this article: <br /> (1) Pepe`ekeo volunteer fire station. <br /> (2) Milani volunteer fire station. <br /> (3) Volcano volunteer fire station. <br /> (4) Hawaiian Acres volunteer fire station. <br /> (5) Fern Forest volunteer fire station. <br /> (6) Fern Acres volunteer fire station. <br /> (7) Miloli`i volunteer fire station. <br /> (9) Kona Village volunteer fire station. <br /> (10) Ka`u pulehu volunteer fire station. <br /> (11) Four Seasons volunteer fire station. <br /> (12) Pa`auilo volunteer fire station. <br /> (13) Waiki`i volunteer fire station. <br /> (14) Hawaiian Beaches volunteer fire station. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 2-6 <br />
