REQUEST: <br /> <br /> Prepare an ordinance for the acceptance of a Rural Fire Assistance Grant from the US Department of <br /> Interior, National Park Service. The purpose of the grant is to provide fire suppression tools and equipment <br /> for the Hawaiian Ocean View Volunteer Firefighters. $10,000 is already budgeted for this. Supplementation <br /> is required: <br /> 3301.21 Federal Grants $9,335 <br /> 010.221.5228.01.480 Fire Grants 9,335 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> Public Law 106-291, Title IV, Wildland Fire Appropriations, authorizes the National Park Service to provide <br /> materials and equipment on a cost share basis to rural fire districts to enhance their fire protection <br /> capabilities. The Hawaiian Ocean View Volunteer Fire Department, a subsidiary of the Hawaii County Fire <br /> Department, applied for and was awarded a grant through this Rural Fire Assistance Grant program. The <br /> cost/share basis is 90/10.
