This <br /> area has been prioritized by the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation <br /> Commission as number five in its report to the Mayor dated April 5, 2006 with a 70% criteria <br /> score, and elevated to number two by the Mayor in Communication No. 909 dated May 18, <br /> 2006, citing the fact that the County park including the pavilion is not owned by the County <br /> government and the importance of acquiring permanent ownership so long term improvements <br /> and infrastructure can be planned. <br /> <br /> Please note that the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission <br /> designated Punalu`u Beach Park, Category A: "Lands or property entitlements with high public <br /> interest, imminent needs for acquisition, and largest benefit to the general public.", and meeting <br /> Criteria(s) 1,2,3,4,5: "l) Assesses whether the land or property entitlement meets the purposes of <br /> Hawaii County Ordinance, 2) Assesses whether the land or property entitlement coheres to and <br /> furthers the vision and goals of Hawaii County's 2005 General Plan, 3) Assesses the level of <br /> community support, including reported urgency, based on the community input process, 4) <br /> Assesses whether the land or property entitlement could be acquired using the Hawaii County <br /> Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Fund and other means, and 5) <br /> Assesses whether boundaries, title, maintenance options, and steps toward acquisition are <br /> known." <br /> <br /> Mahalo <br /> <br /> Attch.
