~v or <br /> ~L~ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> `'h•a „:r <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4~3 ~Pl;~i <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, there are three (3) United States Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training <br /> Corps (JROTC) programs on the Island of Hawai` i at Hilo High School, Konawaena High <br /> School and Kealakehe High School; and <br /> WHEREAS, the United States Army JROTC program is designed to teach high school <br /> students the value of citizenship, leadership, personal responsibility, service to the community <br /> and motivates young adults in becoming better citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, for several years, due to the ongoing conflict in Iraq, funding from the <br /> United States Army was substantially reduced and resulted in major problems regarding <br /> inadequate funds to cover the cost of and participation by the Kealakehe High School JROTC in <br /> competition and drill events on the Island of Oahu; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds will be used to cover transportation expenses and enable the <br /> Kealakehe High School JROTC to participate in the 3-day "Adventure Team Challenge" at <br /> Schofield Barracks in December 2006, as well as the "Kings Guard Drill Competition" in April <br /> 2007, two major events that, for the past several years, the Kealakehe High School JROTC was <br /> unable to attend and participate due to inadequate funding. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL. OF THE COUNTY <br /> OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transfetted and appropriated as set forth <br /> below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $4,000.00 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $4,000.00 <br /> <br />
