Banning Alcoholic Drinking at County Beaches and Parks - B"ilI 300
2005 AUG 21 PM 3 «t;
My name is Erma Yamada. I oppose your proposed Bill 300, banning
drinking at County parks and beaches, but feel it is okay at slums and
senior community centers with permit, which is good. Thisis `e seconds'

time the council is dictating the use of public facilities to make it easy for the
police and maintenance people who don't do how and what should and can
be done.

Parties and barbecue cookouts at parks and beaches are organized by
responsible tax paying citizens and yes they try to be aware of what goes on
at the parties, but unfortunately there is no control of difference in people's

personalities. The old Hawaiian style is, if you're invited for a party, you
don't make pilikia for the host, or you get hauled and that's how it always
was way back when.

As for the underage drinking and rowdiness and public nuisance go, the
responsibility lies with the person causing it and on the parents of underage

problems, who should be held responsible for their ungratefuls, cited and
fined to the max. There is a non-emergency police number available to get
them to check the rowdiness or public nuisance. As far as identification for
age - there is the ID cards. After all, discipline starts from home and not the
government.

You council people, make it a point to go around your community and look
at what's there and what's not there to give your attention to, for the
majority of all tax payers and not only the few grumblers and not to minute
problems that the difference public departments can take care of and are not
doing it, especially the maintenance department.

I don't drink nor smoke, but I don't appreciate being told what I can or can't

do by anybody, if and when I'm within reason of my behavior like a lot of
our tax paying citizens who enjoy each others company often at golf
tournaments. So just share food, games and music at any of the parks.

Ua Mau Ke ea O/ Ka ina I Ka pono.

Cf2-kt ~ (~IQ ru- cta~~ 1

Erma Yamada _ II Comm.
