My father went
surfing, there the day I was born, Even before my father was born, my
grandfather started fishing there. 1 used to surf there before and after school,
Now my son is starting to surf there. We surf, fish and camp at Kawa- Please
save it for our family and the other families of Kan.
Kawa is one of the few accessible surf spots in Kau. It is also close
enough to the highway so that more and more people are going there.
X went to the recent surf meet over Labor Day and there were more than
60 vehicles and many more people.
It has the heiau, fresh springs and ponds that need protection. Turtles
nest there and we need to protect them-
Many local people and visitors already help take care of the place because
everyone values and respects Kawa_ The members of Team Haaa are young
surfers who rely on Kawa as a place not only to surf and be with nature, but
also as place where they can do volunteer work to help the community. This
helps to set therm in the right direction.
Please help preserve Kawa for the people and for its natural and historic
resources.

Mahalo,

Cy Lo Jr.

Comm.
