Higa, Chairperson and <br /> Members of the Hawaii County Council <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> SUBJECT: Veterans Advisory Committee Membership <br /> Amends Chapter 15, Article 7, Sections 15-61 and 15-62 (b) and (f) <br /> <br /> Enclosed please find amendments to the above-referenced Sections of Chapter 15 relating to <br /> the Veterans Advisory Committee which supersede the changes requested in March 2006. <br /> <br /> 1) Section 15-61 - Amendment changes wording and clarifies that in addition to the sixteen <br /> members there are two ex-off icio members without the power to vote. <br /> 2) Section 15-62(b) When the Military Order of the Purple Heart was added to the County <br /> Code, they had one chapter (Hilo Chapter #731), it has since changed to an islandwide <br /> organization. We would like to include the entire island when filling vacancies to that <br /> slot. <br /> <br /> A representative of a Korean War Veterans organization has been filling one of four <br /> independent slots. To ensure that this organization is not overlooked while filling future <br /> vacancies, we would like to designate a slot to Korean War Veterans in 15-62 and <br /> reduce the number of "independent" slots to three instead of four. <br /> 3) Section 15-62(f) removes the part about the two ex-off icio members since it is now <br /> included in Section 15-61 - Organization. <br /> <br /> Please call me at 961-8420 if you have any questions. <br /> <br /> Sincerely, ROVED <br /> <br /> <br /> ',Patricia G.
