I intended to testify at the public
hearing scheduled for October 25th at the King Kamehomeha Hotel but I will not try to
testify via video confereneing mechanism (I don't want to risk- again- its

possible failure), therefore I am writing to you.

I feel very strongly that it is essential that the Council DELETE the. Proposed F-2
Amendment to the Genergl,.Plan Land Use Pattern.[LUPAG Manlnl. If not, by changing the
status of almost 100 acres above Kealakekua Bay from "Important Agriculture" Land Use
Designation to "Rural" Land Use (which actually means "developable" since "Rural" Land

Use can be rezoned to permit 9,000 square foot lots and commercial use) you would be
opening the doors to the creation of a basically suburban subdivision right above
Kealakekuo Bay.

This clearly subverts the goals of preserving agricultural land in South Kona as expressed

in the long-range General Plan [GP] of February 2005.

We must preserve the unique country environment of both Kealakekuo Bay and the S.
Kona Agricultural Lands. Is it not clearly to the advantage of everyone in Hawaii
County that the needs of the community in this case be considered as ItagM. No, . ~1

important than the desire of an individual landowner? Ref. To:.prpaafee (Ammm
Ref. Date OCT 24 200
The Delete F-2 issue is enormously important to West Hawaii citizens. We have been
n-eAp- nnr+irulnrly nwnrp of the dnneers imnlicit in develonment in this ores by
