HIGA, CHAIR LA,~ <br /> HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> REGARDING: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT <br /> SECTION 24-281, SCHEDULE 29 <br /> PARKING PROHIBITED DURING CERTAIN HOURS <br /> AND SECTION 24-283, SCHEDULE 31 <br /> ONE HOUR PARKING AREAS <br /> <br /> Enclosed for your review and consideration is a Bill amending Chapter 24, article 10, division 5, <br /> section 24-281, schedule 29, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) relating to <br /> parking prohibited during certain hours on certain streets, and section 24-283, schedule 31, relating <br /> to one hour parking areas. <br /> <br /> Residents in South Hilo along Derby Street and Wilson Street are requesting no parking on both <br /> sides of the street from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. because of safety issues to the community. <br /> <br /> The amendments will add the following parking restrictions to section 24-281(c), "Derby Street, <br /> between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and Wilson Street between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to <br /> 7:00 a.m." <br /> <br /> Business owners and residents in South Hilo along Kilauea Avenue beginning from Aupuni Street <br /> towards Kapi`olani School are asking for one hour parking. <br /> <br /> The amendment will add the following one hour parking area to section 24-283 (c): <br /> Kilauea Avenue southwest side, beginning from a point thirty-eight feet south of Aupuni <br /> Street and extending three hundred twelve feet in the southerly direction, except for those <br /> areas designated as No Parking Zones and Freight Loading Zones, between the hours of <br /> 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays. <br /> <br /> <br /> Should you have any questions, concerns or need further information, please do not hesitate to <br /> contact me at ext. 8396.
