No. 1135 PLACE: Council Chambers TIME: 10:30 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Cotmcil Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication No. 1135, reports as follows: Communication No. 1135, dated October 13, 2006, was transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim. In this Communication, Mayor Kim submitted the nomination of Ms. Paulette Pavao of Council District 3 to the Hawaii County Environmental Management Commission. Ms. Paulette Pavao is a thirteen-year resident of Hawaii. She recently retired after working 13 years for the Department of Education as a special education teacher. She is currently a member of Open Arms MCC, and a past member of the First Church of Religious Science and Pahoa SCBM. Ms. Pavao states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2011, replacing Mr. Sam Kawamura whose term will expire on December 31, 2006. Your Committee, having discussed Ms. Pavao's qualifications, is in support of Ms. Pavao's nomination to the County of Hawaii Environmental Management Commission. According to Lincoln Ashida, Corporation Counsel, Ms. Pavao will appear at the next County Council meeting where her appointment will be considered.
