They have been tentatively earmarked for the <br /> districts of: <br /> South Hilo 4 <br /> Kona 3 * <br /> North Hilo 1 <br /> North Kohala 1 <br /> Total: 9 <br /> If approved, this will afford representation in ALL districts <br /> and bring the total number of Community Policing Officers <br /> to 23, and their respective assignments to the following <br /> districts: <br /> South Hilo 8 <br /> Kona 7 * <br /> Puna 2 <br /> South Kohala 2 <br /> North Hilo 1 <br /> Hamakua 1 <br /> Kau 1 <br /> North Kohala 1 <br /> Total 23 <br /> * Note: One each from South Hilo and Kona will <br /> eventually be reallocated to serve as <br /> supervisors of the program in East and <br /> West Hawaii respectively. <br /> <br /> These personnel allocations were based in part on crime <br /> incidences, projected trends, and population both estimated and <br /> de facto. <br /> <br /> We will have representatives available to answer questions on <br /> these grants at the Finance Committee meeting. <br /> If there are additional concerns during the interim, please <br /> feel free to contact my office at 961-2244. <br /> <br /> WGC:sk <br /> cc: Mayor Stephen Yamashiro <br /> <br />
