I do not drink but I think of drinking alcohol
as a choice of Americans, and they should be allowed to make their own
choices. Otherwise, would they really be 'Free Americans'?
Maybe you should make a drinking ban, but don't fine people who
are just sitting on the beach and drinking. You should just fine the people
who are drunk and disturbing everyone. Only then, should a person be
punished. People should be allowed to enjoy a beer on the beach
without the fear of being fined,. One thousand dollars is a lot of money to
everyone. I know that it would mean a family's food or maybe a house
payment. Just for a beer?? The speeding ticket is less money than that
and speeding could kill someone! I also wanted to know where the
money would go. Would it benefit the schools? Or maybe the
community? Or would it just sit there unused until some county
construction project came up? I don't know what you see, but our
textbooks are really old and could use some replacing.
Of course the Bill would mean more fines and work for Police
Officers. I think the officer's time would be put to better use arresting
rapists and drug gealers than some guys from the office cracking open a
couple beers after a hard days' work. All I'm saying is that yes, the ban
has a reason and it may be needed, but maybe you should compromise?
Please make copies and share my letter with the other members of
council.

Thank you, for taking your time to read my concerns and I hope it
has helped you see the opinion of the People.

Just a concerned student,

? ?ykAge'~6
Victoria Shirk Comm.
