Murashige, Laura
From: James Weatherford [gardengreen@hawaiiantel.net]
Sent: Sunday, November 12, 2006 7:02 PM
To: counciltestimony@co.hawaii.hi.us
Subject: BILL 358 (DRAFT 2) -COMMENT

As the County moves forward for financing, planning, and construction of the West Hawaii Civic Center, as well
as repairs to the Aupuni Street County Building, please make it the highest priority to ensure that these projects
MAXIMIZE THE UTILIZATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY CONSERVATION design.
Photovoltaic solar technology for generation of electricity and solar hot water technology both are readily available
and have been proven to be successful and competitive on this island. These technologies can save the County
Government money over the long run and demonstrate to the residents and businesses here that the County
Government is serious about substituting renewable energy for imported petroleum.
The County Government has made a commitment to a sustainable energy program for the community. With the
two large capital projects above, there is an excellent opportunity for the COUNTY TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE.
Thank you.
James Weatherford, Ph.D.
P.O.
