Tam very excited that our County of Hawaii and it's government
and business leaders strongly feel that agriculture is a priority that continuously needs support in
ways of creative mazketing and financing to sustain and even increase agricultural production
but moreso, to maintain a rural agricultural livesh, le sa unique to Hawaii County.
Because of the importance of Big Island agncultur~ that consistently impacts our local economy
tremendously, 1 would like to support a current resoiution authored by County Councilman
Dominic Yagong that states "resolution authorizing the leasing of county lands (formally owned
by Hantakua Sugar Company, Inc.) for diversified agriculture, eco-tourism, and pastoral uses by
negotiations", this resolution if approved by the Havvan Count} Council would greafly enhance
and allow for example Big Island farmers and ranchers to utilize displaced sugar lands in hopes
to expand their businesses in groN~ng more crops, herding more cattle, developing progressive
eco-towist activities and keeping Hamakua lands in a}_rriculture.
Therefore, I would like for the Hawaii Counn Council members to support Councilman
Dominic Yagong's resolution in allowing 4,400 t~amaLua sugar lands to be used by Big Island
farmers and ranchers in the very near future for the '~ettennent and improvement of Big Island
a>?riculture-
Ifyou should have any questions please feel free t ~ contact me at 934-602 l _
Mahalo Nui Loa.
Respectfully yours,
a ~ co rba
Agricultural Mazketing Consultant t.A~ N0. ~p0~. 19
cc: Jessica Owen, Habe~n Lwestock Comnam Flle No. -
PrQSented• FG
Aef.
