Angel Pilago, Chair <br /> Committee on Planning <br /> RE: Bi11345, Draft 2 (2004-2006 Term) <br /> Relating to the Definition of Family <br /> Attached for your consideration is Bill 345, Draft 2 that sets forth an amendment proposed by <br /> Planning Director Chris Yuen that was passed at the County Council meeting on Januazy 4, <br /> 2007. The amendment adds the provision that if more than one dwelling unit on a lot is used for <br /> a group facility, then the number of persons in each dwelling shall not exceed five, plus program <br /> staff. <br /> Bill 345, Draft 2 amends the definition of "family" to read as follows: <br /> ""Family" means an individual or two or more persons related by blood, state-sanctioned <br /> adoption, foster pazentage, guardianship or marriage, or a group of not more than five <br /> unrelated persons (excluding servants), occupying a dwelling unit. The term includes <br /> individuals in larger group living situations described as group living facilities and family <br /> child caze homes and a group of not more than eight unrelated persons, plus andprogram <br /> staff, livine in a facility licensed or certified by the department of health, provided that <br /> if more than one dwelline on a lot is used for such a facility, the number of unrelated <br /> aersons in each dwelline shall not exceed five, plus any aroeram staff." <br /> <br /> New material is bolded and underscored. <br /> Your consideration is appreciated.
