Sumja of Council District 9 to the Hawaii County <br /> Police Commission. Mr. Sumja is an 8-year resident of Hawaii. Since 2004, he has <br /> been employed by the Hawaii County Department of Research and Development as a <br /> community facilitator. From 2000 to 2004, he managed property in Kohala. <br /> Mr. Sumja is an executive board member of the North Kohala Drug-Free Coalition. He is <br /> a past president of the Kohala Senior Citizens club, and a past chairman of the Kohala <br /> Coalition Against Drugs. Mr. Sumja is a former commissioner on both the Hawaii <br /> County Transportation Commission and the Hawaii County Tax Board of Review. His <br /> term on both commissions expired on December 31, 2006. <br /> Mr. Sumja states that he is a Democrat. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end on <br /> December 31, 2011, replacing Mr. James A.
