The American Lung Assocation of Hawaii's mission is to prevent <br /> lung disease and promote lung health. Lung disease is the third- <br /> ranking cause of death in the nation, preceded by heart disease <br /> and cancer. Hawaii has one to the highest number of asthmatics in <br /> the country. It is our belief that through education and programs, <br /> we can educate our community on the dangers of secondhand <br /> smoke and its effects on our children, especially those who suffer <br /> from asthma. <br /> At a function such as a basketball tournament or any other event <br /> that involves healthy youngsters participating in sporting events, it <br /> is imperative that we all take the necessary measures to promote a <br /> healthy environment for all those who are involved. <br /> I have enclosed two brochures for you "Facts About Asthma" and <br /> "Facts About Secondhand Smoke".
