"Division UNV Universitv District in Hilo. Section Purpose and applicability. The UNV (Universitv) District in Hilo shall apply to areas of land that aze utilized for campus-related activities and is intended to apply to azeas for the location and expansion of universities and the uses and facilities that are associated with and aze supportive of them Special consideration of such uses and facilities is appropriate given the unique characteristics of university areas, the variety of uses needed to serve the university community, and the varying intensity of land uses in such a community. Section Designation of UNV districts in Hilo. {1?askl-The UNV (Universitv) district in Hilo shall be designated by the symbol "UNV." Section Permitted uses. (a) Universitv facilities including classrooms laboratory and research facilities administration facilities athletic centers and Facilities, auditoriums student centers libraries museums, exhibition halls, cafeterias student health clinics maintenance facilities and parking lots. (b) Limited retail and service establishments primarily intended to serve the specific needs of the student population of a university and are normally associated with higher education institutions including but not limited to, retail stores whose primary customers aze students or faculty of a ` university convenience stores theaters restaurants, recreational and amusement facilities drug stores book stores health clubs, news stands, photocopying office supplies word processing or typing services, computer sales and service laundries university credit union, financial institutions post office and video rentals. (c) Dormitories fraternity and sorority houses and apartments and housing for currently enrolled university students and their dependents and for current university employees and their dependents. ' (dl Guest accommodations to accommodate visiting scholars and their dependents parents visiting their children alumni reunions, as well as participants in conferences and seminars held at or sponsored by the university. Section Height limit. The height limit in the UNV district in Hilo shall be sixty feet. Section Minimum building site azea. The minimum building site azea of the UNV district in Hilo shall be ten acres. The minimum building site area for leased lots may be seven thousand five hundred sguaze feet. Section Minimum building site average width. Each building site in the UNV district in Hilo shall have a minimum building site rage width of sixty feet. 2
