A os~ <br /> •.4 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 1y1 07 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, the Kea`au Youth Business Center is the first pilot project in the State of <br /> Hawaii and is focused on helping at-risk high school students who are failing in school; and <br /> WHEREAS, the program prepares the students for college and the workplace with <br /> hands-on education using state-of--the-art facilities in culinary arts, sound recording engineering, <br /> video production, and computer graphics/desktop publishing while incorporating various <br /> subjects such as math, English, humanities, speech communication, history, and environmental <br /> science into their projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, the program uses positive reinforcement to build character and teach <br /> responsibility, discipline, life skills, and how to be good citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, the program also allows the students to give back to the community through <br /> their projects, such as creating public service announcements on substance abuse, anti-violence, <br /> and anti-smoking, as well as creating an educational video about diabetes; and <br /> WHEREAS, Council District 3 discretionary funds will be appropriated to the <br /> Department of Liquor Control to be used as a grant towards youth programs at the Kea`au Youth <br /> Business Center; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> <br /> APPROPRIATION: $20,000 <br /> <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $20,000 <br /> <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> <br /> 010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $20,000 <br /> Public Programs <br /> (Kea`au Youth Business Center) <br /> <br />
