p <br /> l <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,~M~M~+ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 215 ®'7 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, founded in 1990 by Keolalani Hanoa (July, 1960- March, 2006) the Kukulu <br /> Kumuhana `O Ka`u Learning Center at Punalu'u provides cuhural and environmental <br /> educational programs to all schools and all ages, immersing students in traditional Hawaiian <br /> Teaching "Hands on Experiencing"; and <br /> WHEREAS, the youth learn about native history, culture, customs, traditions, protocols <br /> and the protection of our environment; which include the mauka (mountains) to makai (ocean), <br /> in an effort to prevent drug and alcohol use and promote healthy lifestyle choices; and <br /> WHEREAS, according to the 2006 Edition of Hniili, Multidisciplinary Research on <br /> Hawaiian Well Being "Native Hawaiian youths aze tr~re likely to engage in high risk behaviors <br /> such as antisocial activities, drug use, eazly sexual intercourse, and they are less likely to <br /> graduate". Native Hawaiian youth also represent a disproportional minority confinement in our <br /> juvenile detention system; and <br /> WHEREAS, discretionazy funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney's Office to be used as a grant towards the Kukulu Kumuhana `O Ka`ii <br /> Learning Center at Punalu`u; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $10,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $10,000 <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> 010.271.5271.02 Prosecuting Attorney's Office $10,000 <br /> Pros Atty Oce <br /> (Kukulu Kumuhana `O Ka`n <br /> Summer Program) <br /> <br />
