Angel; County Testimony <br /> Subject: Resolution 158-07 <br /> Dear County Council: <br /> I would like to strongly urge you to approve this resolution which would limit what the Planning Department can <br /> and cannot do. They have demonstrated and Chris Yuen has even said on occassion.(..the Community meeting <br /> last Tuesday at the Old Airport) that their department only grants permits. It does not look at infrastrudttrre, <br /> sewers, streets, schools, etc. This is much too much of a simplistic view of what their departrrrEnt is alf~bout and <br /> is also a major fundamental flaw in the County Government. <br /> Each agency MUST speak with other agencies about how a development would impact their departm <br /> nts. To do <br /> less has created the following travesties. <br /> 1. Ariana development and the rains ruining the coffee farms because the soil is washed away. Poor planning. <br /> 2. The culverts going across Kuikakini Highway flooding Kona Sea Villas because the planning department gave <br /> the ok for the development and the Department of Public Works could not mitigate the problem. The la,3ve had to <br /> have their storm drains shoveled out of accumulated silt 2 times in 4 years. <br /> 3. The very real probablility that the Sunstone LLC development of 290 Condominiums in a flood plain. }vill not <br /> overflow a 5 foot wide culvert. This is preposterous. <br /> The different Departments MUST work together and take into account how any development will impact other <br /> areas.
