AfSCME Local 152, AFL-CIO <br /> May 31, 2007 <br /> Honorable Pete Hoffman, Chairman <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> 25 Aupuni Street, Suite 209 <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> Dear Chairman Hoffinan: <br /> Regarding: <br /> Resolution 186-07 - "Committing to funding the cost items agreed upon <br /> by the Employers and the Hawaii Government Employees Association <br /> (HGEA) Units 02, 03, 04, 13 and Employees excluded from those Units <br /> for the contract period July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2009." <br /> I am writing on behalf of over 6000 HGEA members living in Hawaii County. <br /> We thank you for your support of Resolution 186-07 at the Finance Committee. We <br /> request your continued support and the continued support of your fellow County Council <br /> members in the passage of Resolution 186-07 by the Hawaii County Council. <br /> The HGEA initiated the negotiation process for the 2007-2009 Agreements in the <br /> Spring of 2006. We proceeded through negotiations, impasse and even arbitration <br /> hearings on behalf of all of our bargaining units before reaching final negotiated <br /> settlements for Units 02, 03, 04, and 13. Those settlements were all agreed to by the <br /> Employer of each jurisdiction, including Mayor Kim. All of the settlements were ratified <br /> by, in excess of, 95% of our voting members.
