However I also understand <br /> the need for permits and the requirement for commercial <br /> zoning. Our towns and districts have commercial areas set <br /> asideto allow people to run their businesses without inter- <br /> ferring in residential neighborhoods and cultural enclaves. <br /> To allow peddlars to place orange traffic cones to "reserve" <br /> parking spaces for their wares and to allow them to display <br /> multicolored umbrellas to attract the visitors is not in <br /> tune with the ambiance of this historic valley. <br /> I have had people approach me to rent our facilities and <br /> operate a icecream/lunchwagon at the overlook. So far <br /> I have deffered to these proposals as I feel that it would <br /> be a direct slap in the face to the' HawaiianG and the county <br /> and state,` <br /> I therefore request that Waipio Overlook be restricted to <br /> All peddlars. Other vendors are on their way and we certainly <br /> dont want to have another Hanama Bay or Waikiki T-shirt <br /> situation. <br /> Mahalo for your time. <br /> Aloha, <br /> Alan H.
