Although
I dont know him personally, I understand that he is a very
likeable individual. BUT....MORE PEDDLERS ARE ON THE WAY!
Every week the police arrive to dislodge peddlers from the
overlook.
The overlook does not "need" peddler services. All necessary
services are available 500yds from the lookout in an appro-
priately zoned commercial area.
At the previous council meeting a council member stated
that the peddling ban at Anuenue playground in Kamuela was
good because children were crossing the road to get ice
cream. Exactly the some thing is happening at the overlook.
Children (and adults) are crossing the county road from the
parking lot to get to the peddler.
I feel that council members that do not know Waipio Lookout
as it exists today should abstain from voting or at least
vote with Councilman Yagonq. He knows Waipio. He has done
his homework on this issue and has properly presented this
bill......and he sides with no one.
If peddling is not halted promptly a historic and valuable
Hawaiian treasure will be permanently scarred.
~i
Aloha,
/ A
Alan H.
