FROM F+D HOLSCHLJH - 3F RANCH PHONE N0. 7759027 Jul. 09 2007 11:49PM Pl
P.U. Bog E004, Honokaa, Hawaii 96727
(808) 640-3181
t
TO: Chair Pete Hoffman and Members, G-
Hawaii County Council i--
t-,
FROM: Ih. Fred C. Holschuh c'
SUBJECT: Bill 1 t2
D[?SE: July 10, 2007 ~ ,
Chair Hoffman and Members:
Thank you for allowing me to submit testimony in strong opposition to Bill 112 as
it i:; currently written. When the affordable housing conditions were enacted in 199$ and
when the affordable housing policies were again addressed in 2005, the requirements
defdt with new inning action. Bill l 12 asks landowners who currently have existing legal
rowing to be responsible for affordable housing costs that were never part of their prior
zoning conditions.
We are all aware of the need for affordable housing in Hawaii County. Many of
the people who so desperately need housing are children and grandchildren of long time
faotilies who have the zoning and have planned to give portions of their land to their
del,ccndants for homes.
l request that this bill be defeated in its present form or at least postponed for
further careful consideration. Thank you.
Respectfiilly,
Frei C. Holschuh, M.D.
Comm. No. 7~
Ref. To: hN°'^~
Ref. Dote ~
