Murashige, Laura
From: jthibau2@d.umn.edu
Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2007 12:28 PM
To: counciltestimony@co.hawaii.hi.us ~ti~7 2~ ~~r ~ r:~
Subject: res 169-07
Dear, Council Members
I am writing in regards to the reversal of resolution 169-07 and my dismay.
2 do not live in the area and I have no monetary interest or gain,my interest is in the
fact that it is such a beautiful and natural place.
I was lucky to visit in 2003 and I can say that in all my travels in my fifty plus

years this is one of the most scenic and beautiful spots.I have been to exotic locales
that is what travel brochures call them, but many are overcrowded tourist spots that donot
tell about the local culture or people.
When I visited, I was very fortunate to meet some of the local people and heard from them
what their homeland means to them in economic terms and cultural history. -
You as council members have a chance to do a positive for the people who live there as
well as yourselves and future generations.
The chance to make a difference does not always occur to people, and yet with your vote
and ability to make a change this is in your hands and vote.
i am asking you to please reconsider the long term consequence of your vote. The actions
of your council will effect many generations to come long after we are all gone from this
earth. Future generations can look back and say we have a beautiful home and it is
sustainable for us with out having to destroy the natural beach and surrounding area.Arid
they will have this council and their wisdom to thank. This to me is a much better legacy
than to have them look back and say we have another overcrowded and overdeveloped beach
that we can not afford to live in. I am not trying to be disrespectful or think I know
more than the council members or the people who live there. 2 am just speaking from my-
heart, 2 truly feel that you are all very fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful
place. 2 do not want to be selfish, but I would like to come back in a few years with my
family and have them see the same place that I saw several years ago.If 2 want them to see
overcrowded beach and problems we can always go to a beach on Honolulu. Thank you for
taking time to read this long a-mail.
Mahalo
James Thibault
130 west Quince Street
Duluth,Mn 55811
218-726-4195 or 218 726-8285
jthibau2C~d.umn.edu
This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.
Comm.
