~tv os H4 <br /> '~6 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 337 O'7 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii imports more than 90% of the food consumed on the island and <br /> has only an eight-day supply of food in reserve in the event of an emergency; and <br /> WHEREAS, increasing the island's food security by supporting family farmers and <br /> improving locally based food systems is critically important to ensure the safety and security of <br /> the people of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Food Summit will help to generate awareness about <br /> local food security issues and bring together the people who can help to shift the future of <br /> Hawaiian agriculture toward an ecologically sound, self-sustaining system; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Food Summit will bring together leading national <br /> technical and policy experts, local policy makers, private-sector stakeholders, farmers, and <br /> citizens to discuss strategies to create a more self-sufficient local food system and create better <br /> working relationships among these groups to plan for the future; and <br /> WHEREAS, funding will be required by The Kohala Center to sponsor speakers and <br /> mount the Summit on October 5 and 6, 2007, and for printing, graphics, and publicity for The <br /> Hawaii Island Food Summit events; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to <br /> the Department of Research and Development to provide financial support to The Kohala Center <br /> for the Hawaii Island Food Summit; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> <br /> FUND: General <br /> <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> <br /> APPROPRIATION: $10,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $10,000 <br /> <br />
