No. 298-07 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers, Ben Franklin Bldg. <br /> TIME: 3:080 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 298-07, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 298-07, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 147 by Director of Finance <br /> William Takaba, via Communication No. 594, dated July 31, 2007, authorizes the Office of the <br /> Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, <br /> for a Law Enforcement Investigation Standby Pay grant for the County of Hawaii Police <br /> Department's Juvenile Aid Section (JAS) Detectives. <br /> The JAS have the responsibility of investigating all sexual assaults and violence cases involving <br /> an intimate partner or family household member, which includes but are not limited to physical <br /> abuse, assault, and sexual assaults. A critical component to the effectiveness of this agency is <br /> having Detectives on standby status so that they can respond in a timely manner and conduct <br /> their crime investigations.
