Wal-Mart is the state's <br /> <br /> fifth-largest employer and, as of July 2007, employs approximately 4,393 in the state with our <br /> Wal-Mart and Sam's Club operations. <br /> As of FYE 2007 (ending January 2007), the Hilo and Kailua-Kona Wal-Mart stores on Hawaii <br /> together donated a total of $86,073 in grants for the year to local charities, schools, community <br /> organizations on the Big Island. In addition, $16,451 worth of in-kind donations also were pro- <br /> vided to community organizations across the island during FYE 2007. <br /> Wal-Mart works with approximately 50 suppliers on the Big Island. In FYE 2007, Wal-Mart <br /> Stores, Inc. spent approximately $188 million for merchandise and services with 488 suppliers <br /> in the state of Hawaii. As a result of Wal-Mart's relationship with these suppliers, Wal-Mart sup- <br /> ports 17,711 supplier jobs in the state of Hawaii.
