IJIr <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 338 07 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of the "Teen Dating Violence Conferences" is to eliminate the <br /> <br /> prevalence and cultural acceptance of teen dating violence by increasing awareness by teenagers <br /> of its illegality and harmful future effects; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Teen Dating Violence Conferences will be held in East Hawaii and <br /> West Hawai` i on October 18, 2007 and October 19, 2007, respectively; and <br /> WHEREAS, there were an estimated 4,000 incidents of sexual assault in public schools <br /> across the United States during the 1996-1997 school year alone; and <br /> WHEREAS, the target audience is teenagers and their peer groups; and <br /> WHEREAS, victims of violent adolescent relationships frequently accept abuse in their adult <br /> relationships and are at high risk for substance abuse, eating disorders and risky sexual behaviors, and <br /> suicide; and <br /> WHEREAS, the occurrence of teen dating violence usually results in escalating violence in <br /> adult relationships; and <br /> WHEREAS, every 12 seconds a woman is beaten in the United States and every six hours a <br /> woman is killed; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the <br /> Office of the Mayor for the Teen Dating Violence Conference; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $10,000 <br /> <br />
