.B. NO. <br /> A BILL FOR AN ACT <br /> RELATING TO PRODUCT BRANDING AND LABELING. <br /> BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: <br /> 1 SECTION 1. All products made and packaged in Hawaii shall <br /> 2 conform with the following: <br /> 3 Require that honey, macadamia nuts, coffee, and vanilla <br /> 4 products that have any information or name indicating "Hawai`i" <br /> 5 or a region of Hawaii be identified on the front label with <br /> 6 the country of origin and percentage of each country's portion <br /> 7 of that product in letters equal in size to the largest font on <br /> 8 the label. <br /> 9 <br /> l0 Establish a minimum of 1000 Hawaii-grown product for a <br /> 11 label to say "100°s Hawaii-Grown (product)", "Hawaii-Grown <br /> 12 (product)", "1000 Hawaiian (product)", or "Hawaiian (product)", <br /> 13 "1000 Hawaii-Made (product)", "Hawai`i-Made (product)", or <br /> 14 "Hawaiian-Made". [Spices added to a product should be exempted <br /> 15 unless spice is the major portion of the product.] <br /> 16 <br /> 17 SECTION 2. All local product packaging and labeling shall <br /> 18 reflect the following: <br /> 19 <br /> <br /> 20 Increase the minimum percentage of Kona-grown coffee from <br /> 21 loo to 75% for any coffee blend using the label, "Kona Coffee <br /> 22 Blend," and require the front label to reflect the country of <br /> 23 origin for remainder of the coffee blend in letters as large as <br /> 24 the largest font for any other information or company name. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 SECTION 3. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed <br /> 27 and stricken. New statutory material is underscored. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 SECTION 4.
