.,1Mty or y~`_ I~ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> 01 ~Mr'.Qf <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 349 0r7 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, the Paniolo Preservation Society (PPS) is an independent, not-for-proftt, <br /> voluntary organization of individuals dedicated to preserving the paniolo tradition as a <br /> significant part of the history of Hawaii and of the Western heritage of the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, PPS represents ranch families from across the state; and <br /> WHEREAS, PPS preserves artifacts, natural history, and living history representative of <br /> Hawai`i's paniolo heritage and raises community awareness about the significance of Hawai`i's <br /> livestock industry through public education and activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, research has shown that farm festivals throughout the world are a <br /> significant aspect of the tourism generating process, and paniolo life is recognized as a strong <br /> agri-tourism product of Hawaii Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, PPS is hosting "The Great Waiomina Centennial Celebration," a statewide <br /> festival consisting of art, music, cultural, and culinary events focused around the paniolo theme, <br /> as well as rodeos across the state; and <br /> WHEREAS, "The Great Waiomina Centennial Celebration" will provide visitors to <br /> Hawaii Island with a unique experience by showcasing our Island's rich paniolo culture and <br /> agricultural heritage; and <br /> WHEREAS, funding will be required for exhibit preparation work, including design, <br /> <br /> photo selection, caption design, mounting, and assembly of freestanding exhibit boards, and <br /> <br /> advertising in various statewide and island-wide media will be used to arouse interest in "The <br /> Great Waiomina Centennial Celebration" events; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to <br /> <br /> the Department of Research and Development to be used towards the Paniolo Preservation <br /> Society for the "The Great Waiomina Centennial Celebration"; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> <br /> APPROPRIATION: $10,000 <br /> <br />
