I <br /> hope the Council will use whatever means possible, including eminent <br /> domain, to preserve this coastal area from development. Much of the land <br /> proposed for the Punalu'u park is located in the area inundated by the 1975 <br /> tsunami. (See attached map from Draft EIS). The area zoned for the <br /> smaller hotel is within this tsunami inundation zone. It is in the best <br /> interest of the County's liability, the health, safety and social conditions of <br /> the public, and future fiscal expenditures to acquire these parcels and restrict <br /> all building in this area. Land inundated by the Hilo tswlami is now a park <br /> used for sporting events. Purchase of this land will not eliminate economic <br /> development in this area.
