tT'"vv asM <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> . <br /> Di ~M~J` <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 364 0'7 <br /> RESOLUTION CREATING A PARK CARETAKER I (3/5T) POSITION AND A PARK <br /> <br /> CARETAKER I (1/2T) POSITION FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND <br /> RECREATION <br /> WHEREAS, the Civil Case Number 98-244, United Public Workers Union (UPW) versus the <br /> County of Hawaii, et al., relating to the privatization of janitorial and ground maintenance work, has <br /> been settled; and <br /> WHEREAS, the settlement calls for the County of Hawaii to hire UPW workers instead of <br /> contracting out forjanitorial and grounds maintenance services; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to comply with the civil settlement, the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation would like to create a Park Caretaker I (3/5T} position and a Park Caretaker I (1/2T) <br /> position for its Parks Maintenance Division; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Park Caretaker I (3/5T) position for the South Hilo district and the Park <br /> <br /> Caretaker I (1/2T) position for the Kona district, will be used to perform the custodial, janitorial, and <br /> <br /> ground maintenance work in and around County facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, there should be sufficient funds in the Parks and Recreation, Parks <br /> Maintenance`s Regular Salaries and Wages account (010.500.5505.01.011); and <br /> WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor <br /> has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...". <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br /> HAWAII that a Park Caretaker I (3/5T), BC-02, position and a Park Caretaker I (1/2T), BC-02, <br /> positions be created in the Department of Parks and Recreation. <br /> <br />
