SAFE COMMUNITY HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM <br /> FINAL REPORT <br /> <br /> PROJECT TITLE:HCPD TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION PROGRAM/PT07-O1 (03-H-O1) <br /> Priority Area: I Area: Alcohol Countermeasures <br /> <br /> The goal of this project is to improve speed and alcohol related fatal traffic crash <br /> investigations, prosecution efforts and conviction rates by obtaining training and <br /> equipment. <br /> 1. Four (4) Traffic Enforcement Unit officers to attend the following course: <br /> • Visual Statement Advanced Diagramming Course <br /> GRANT PERIOD RESULTS: <br /> (FINAL REPORT) <br /> • Three Traffic Enforcement Unit Officers attended the Visual Statement Computer <br /> Diagramming Course on Maui. <br /> The following courses have also been completed by Big Island Officers and funded <br /> through other sources: <br /> One Officer attended a one week Intoxilyzer Repair and Maintenance Course sponsored <br /> by the State Department of Health. <br /> One Officer attended a two week Intoxilyzer Supervisor Course. <br /> Two Officers attended the Inspection and Investigation of Commercial Motor Vehicles, <br /> Level One Training, sponsored by the Department of Transportation. <br /> The training objectives of this grant period were met however, we were not able to <br /> purchases the computer software for Visual Statement due to the high cost. Funds in this <br /> grant were insufficient due to the cost of training. <br /> <br />
