<br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII : • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 470 08 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO <br /> MULTI-YEAR CONTRACTS FOR ELECTRONIC AND PRINTED LEGAL RESEARCH <br /> FOR THE OFFICE OF THE CORPORATION COUNSEL <br /> WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Hawaii County Charter requires that any contract, <br /> lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal yeaz <br /> or more than one fiscal yeaz be approved by resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into multi-yeaz contracts with electronic and <br /> printed legal reseazch providers for the Office of the Corporation Counsel; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel has been able to negotiate favorable <br /> rates for multi-yeaz contracts which has resulted in further savings to the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, this legal reseazching capability has been used to assist all County <br /> departments, is shared with the Council staff, and is a requirement in today's legal environment. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii <br /> hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into multi-yeaz contracts to provide electronic and printed <br /> legal research services for the Office of the Corporation Counsel. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this <br /> resolution to (1) the Honorable Harry Kim, Mayor of the County of Hawaii; (2) William <br /> Takaba, Director of Finance; and (3) Gerald Takase, Assistant Corporation Counsel. <br /> <br />
