Div or <br /> tP?'~;; <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> or<•o~.~,•• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 521 Q8 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT AMONG THE COUNTY OF <br /> HAWAII, NACo, AND CAREMARKPCS RELATING TO A PRESCRIPTION DRUG <br /> DISCOUNT CARD PROGRAM FOR THE RESIDENTS OF HAWAII COUNTY. <br /> WHEREAS, the cost of living in Hawaii is among the highest in the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, the cost of prescription medications continues to rise; and <br /> WHEREAS, there are residents in the County of Hawaii who lack drug plans or have <br /> drug plans that do not provide sufficient coverage; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council seeks to assist its residents in defraying the cost of medications; <br /> <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Counties of Hawaii, Maui, Kauai and City and County of Honolulu <br /> comprise the organization entitled the Hawaii State Association of Counties (HSAC); and <br /> WHEREAS, HSAC is a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo), an <br /> organization whose membership totals over 3,000 cities and counties nationwide; and <br /> WHEREAS, NACo conducted a request for proposals and selected CazemarkPCS Health <br /> <br /> L.P. (Cazemazk) as the pharmacy benefits provider to provide a prescription drug discount card <br /> <br /> program for member counties to offer to their residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii is eligible to participate in this prescription drug <br /> discount card program through HSAC's membership in NACo; and <br /> <br />
