Presently there are two identical signs that say Leleiwi <br /> Beach Park, which causes confusion for the public. The name Leleiwi is <br /> culturally incorrect according to the kupuna and Hawaiiana experts. The <br /> true Leleiwi is further along the coast, past Lehia Park. <br /> We agree with the research done by Helena Kapuni-Reynolds and Nathan <br /> Evans. They talked to kupuna and members of the Hawaiian community and <br /> consulted oral histories to come up with the correct names for these <br /> County Parks. As we understand it, the park lands with the set of 3 <br /> pavilions that run parallel to Kalanianaole Street should be named <br /> Waiolena Park; and the second set of pavilions that run vertically to the <br /> street should be named Waiuli Park.
