tv or <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ..~.M'i~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 541 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, the West Hawaii Community Health Center, Ina (WHCHC) is a 501(c)3 <br /> nonprofit organization, committed to making healthcare geographically and financially <br /> accessible to residents of West Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, WHCHC offers an integrated approach to healthcare that includes medical, <br /> dental and behavioral health services to adequately serve children who do not currently have <br /> adequate access to healthcare and in so doing, complete the Island's "Circle of Care" from <br /> Kawaihae to Kona to Miloli`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, WHCHC is partially funded by a federal 330e grant that covers only 30% <br /> of the operating budget and WHCHC must rely upon Medicaid, Medicare, and privately insured <br /> patients to balance its budget and maintain services; and <br /> WHEREAS, WHCHC wants to open a Children's Clinic in Kealakekua providing <br /> medical, dental, and behavioral services to all children including the indigent, uninsured and <br /> underinsured children who have been identified as a priority group by the State ofHawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, a medical crisis was declared in the County ofHawai`i due to the declining <br /> number of doctors and medical facilities to serve the children; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to <br /> help the WHCHC Children's Clinic defray operational expenses that are not covered by the <br /> federal government or insurance for children in low income families; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $40,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $40,000 <br /> <br />
