~p`~,rTV or <br /> ~l~ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ••••~~O~~M•+' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 544 d8 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, Kai `Opua Canoe Club is the oldest and largest Hawaiian outrigger canoe <br /> club on the island of Hawaii, having been established in 1929; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kai `Opua is a 501 (c)(3) non profit corporation working with the County <br /> Department of Parks and Recreation for over 10 years to construct a canoe halau on five acres of <br /> land located just north of the Makaeo Events Pavilion at the Old Kona Airport Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the halau will provide a much needed family building and gathering place <br /> for the community, as well as a home for the canoes and canoe clubs, and provide a visible <br /> indication to all who would visit the Old Kona Airport Park of the importance of the Hawaiian <br /> outrigger canoe culture; and <br /> WHEREAS, an additional grant of $300,000 from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs was <br /> given to Kai `Opua to construct the canoe halau; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to <br /> the Department of Parks and Recreation to be used to support the construction of the canoe <br /> halau; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $30,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-CouncilSVC-Contingency Relief $30,000 <br /> <br />
