BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Hawaii Fire Department applied for and was awarded a grant under the FY 2007 Assistance to <br /> Firefighters Grant program, from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The approved project costs <br /> total $305,700. The Federal share is 80 percent or $244,560 and the County share is 20 percent or $61,140. <br /> The approved project is for the acquisition of video conferencing equipment for off-site fire stations, which <br /> would markedly enhance intra-department communications and interaction.
