-p~~tY Os N,~ <br /> G~ 6 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ~~tF Os~N~~' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 562 08 <br /> RESOLUTION CREATING A CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT MECHANIC <br /> POSITION AND ABOLISHING A LUBRICATION WORKER POSITION WITHIN <br /> <br /> THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS' AUTOMOTIVE DIVISION <br /> WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor <br /> has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council and <br /> abolish positions with the consent of the council."; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kohala District has seen an increase in the amount of construction equipment <br /> the Department of Public Works' Automotive Division is required to maintain and repair; and <br /> WHEREAS, the increase is due to the additional pieces of construction equipment from the <br /> Department of Environmental Management's Solid Waste Division that is located in that district; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, although a lubrication worker position was temporarily transferred to the Kohala <br /> District to provide additional assistance, there is a greater need for a Construction Equipment <br /> Mechanic position, since this class of work is capable of performing the necessary servicing and <br /> repair that is required; and <br /> WHEREAS, creating a Construction Equipment Mechanic, BC-11, position in the <br /> Automotive Division will allow them to become more efficient and to provide better service to the <br /> other departments; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lubrication Worker, BC-05, Position No. 00-02328, can be abolished to <br /> make way for the Construction Equipment Mechanic position in the Kohala District; and <br /> WHEREAS, funds will become available in the Automotive's Regular Salaries and Wages <br /> Account, upon the abolishment of the Lubrication Worker position. <br /> <br />
