Ford, Council Member <br /> RE: Transmitting Bill 262, Draft 2, (A proposed charter amendment relating to <br /> establishing an independent audit function within the legislative branch through <br /> the Office of the Legislative Auditor) <br /> <br /> Attached please find a draft 2 of bill 262, relating to establishing an independent audit function <br /> within the legislative branch through the Office of the Legislative Auditor. This draft contains <br /> the amendments to draft 1 of this bill that were made by the Council during its meeting on <br /> April 9, 2008. These amendments are expressed in communications no. 1067.5 and no. 1067.6. <br /> The Council also amended the proposed amendment contained in communication no. 1067.6 by <br /> removing the last paragraph of the proposed new language. Specifically, the language that was <br /> removed reads as follows: <br /> <br /> "False swearing by any witness shall constitute perjury and shall be referred by <br /> the auditor to the prosecuting attorney for prosecution.
