Hastings <br /> The Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, which represents more than 340 businesses <br /> Vice President and 720 members, wishes to urge your yes vote on the upcoming question on multi- <br /> Mary Begier year contract before the Finance Committee on the county's waste-to-energy project. <br /> Treasurer <br /> Jon Miyata Over the last 15 months and continuing through this week, HICC has stayed abreast of <br /> this important and potentially expensive issue, including holding a joint public forum <br /> Past President last year with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaii. We wanted <br /> David DeLuz Jr. to learn as much as we could so that our opinions as a group and as individuals would <br /> be informed. <br /> Directors <br /> While we wholly support recycling and applaud the county for exceptional efforts in <br /> Vaughn Cook this area, the constraints of island living along with increasing population means that <br /> Gary Fujihara even as the percentage of recycled materials goes up, the sheer volume of waste grows <br /> Stan Fortuna, Jr. too. <br /> Judith Fox-Goldstein <br /> Mike Gleason We promise to continue our due diligence to the conclusion of the process. Right now, <br /> though, we have asked and gotten answers to all the questions that can be answered <br /> Joseph Hanley, Jr. Without the next step. <br /> Tan Higashi <br /> Jim Kennedy We are comfortable that a yes vote, first by the Finance Committee and then by <br /> Randy Kurohara Council, will allow the parties to properly amass the remaining information on costs, <br /> Warren Lee impacts, energy contracts and the like. <br /> Barry Mizuno <br /> Seth Murashige Like you, and the other members of Council, the Chamber is continually approached <br /> Irene Nagao by people with other ideas and other technologies to solve our waste problem.
