Kauinui <br /> Request: A-20a to FA-la <br /> Tax ManKey• 1-6-141.10 <br /> <br /> The Planning Commission, after a duly held public hearing on March 20, 1998, voted to <br /> recommend for your approval the proposed legislative bill to change the district classification <br /> for approximately 5.476 acres of land from Agricultural (A-20a) to Family Agricultural <br /> (FA-1a). The application was originally requested from A-20a to A-la and relative to County <br /> Council's Bill No. 126. The property is located on the east side of the Hilo-Volcano <br /> Highway, along E. Kipimana Road and Shipman Road, approximately 1,000 feet from its <br /> intersection with E. Kipimana Road at Keaau, Puna, Hawaii. <br /> <br /> The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br /> favorable consideration of the change of zone: <br /> <br /> In order to consider an area for any type of zoning designation, the applicable <br /> <br /> goals, policies and standards of the General Plan must be adequately addressed. It is <br /> only through such a comprehensive policy analysis approach that evaluations and <br /> decisions can be made to better time and stage developments to achieve growth <br /> determined by the General Plan and related planning documents. The implications of <br /> these evaluations and decisions must be also considered as they may have an impact on <br /> similar areas in the County. <br />
